The journey to founding '1 With the Grain' began with a deep-seated passion for the art and history of barbering. I have always been fascinated by the rich heritage of this profession, which once held a place of great honor and respect in society. Barbers were not merely individuals who cut hair; they were revered as barber surgeons, performing duties that ranged from pulling teeth to bloodletting. This historical significance inspired me to restore the true meaning of what a barber is, does, and personifies. 

In the past, barbers were considered men of prestige and honor, integral to the fabric of their communities. They were trusted figures, providing essential services and contributing to the well-being of those they served. This sense of dignity and respect is something I believe has been lost over time, and it is my mission to bring it back.  By educating youth in the field of barbering and good grooming, I aim to reestablish barbering as a cornerstone of the community, a profession that once again signifies excellence and honor. 

Founding '1 With the Grain' is my way of giving back to the community and ensuring that the next generation understands the importance and value of this noble profession. Through our programs, we not only teach the technical skills of barbering but also instill a sense of pride and responsibility in our students. I am enthusiastic about the potential to transform lives and communities by reviving the dignity of barbering and making it a respect and essential part of society once more.
